Portals (2024) is a closed series of 50 paintings exploring the concept of doorways as gateways to different realms and dimensions. The spiritual meaning of this painting is inspired by a dream the I had with my father after he passed away in 2017. In the dream, I asked him, "What is God?" and he showed me the light. This revelation is reflected in the artwork’s composition, where the radiant white center symbolizes divine presence, truth, and clarity—an embodiment of the answer my father revealed.
Surrounding this light are layers of darkness, representing the shadow—the parts of the self that remain hidden, suppressed, or unexplored, in line with Jungian philosophy. The painting acts as a portal for viewers, inviting them to explore their own spiritual journey, navigating between the conscious light and the unconscious shadow. The rough textures and swirling forms suggest the emotional and spiritual complexity of this inner journey. Ultimately, the collection is both a tribute to my father and an invitation for others to seek their own answers about the divine, the conscious self, and the process of integrating light and shadow.
